Men's Basketball Senior Ozzy Traill Joins NECC Staff as Student Specialist
MANSFIELD, Mass.- Senior Ozzy Traill III (Valley Stream, N.Y.) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's basketball team has joined the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) staff as a Student Specialist, announced the league office Friday.
Along with Traill, Becker College's Dylan Foran and New England College's Giuliana Kevlin have also been named NECC Student Specialists for the 2020-21 academic year.
It is the second year the conference has been able to offers these opportunities at the office, as they are made possible through a diversity and inclusion grant from the NCAA. Each of the three student-athletes will assist with the promotion of the NECC, it's athletic departments, and its student-athletes, by helping with the coordination of our promotional and management efforts to enhance the league.
NECC Commissioner Jacob VanRyn shared how excited he was about the addition of Dylan, Giuliana, and Ozzy. "I'm thrilled to welcome each of these three and am very much looking forward to working with them," said VanRyn. "I'm so excited about what each of them brings to the table and can share with our community. All three have proven to be leaders on their respective campuses and I'm confident each will bring fresh and innovative ideas to the conference."
"I am excited to intern at the NECC because this is another opportunity to grow and better myself as an individual, while growing and gaining professional experience," commented Traill.
The Sports Management major has already been instrumental as his efforts led directly to the NECC's 'Spark The Change' student-led campaign encouraging students on each of the conference's campuses to use their voice to be heard and by participating in the upcoming election.
Foran is a senior member of the men's soccer team at Becker while Kevlin is a dual-sport student-athlete at New England College. All three will begin their roles immediately, and will serve through the end of the spring semester.
"The student-athlete voice is more important than ever" added VanRyn. "The addition of Dylan, Giuliana, and Ozzy has already been tremendous for our conference and I'm excited to see what they will continue to do to enhance our efforts across the league."
