Women’s Volleyball Reaches Third-Straight NECC Finals with 3-0 Victory Over Mitchell
QUINCY, Mass.- The second-seeded Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team topped No. 3 seed Mitchell 3-0 Thursday evening at the Lahue Athletic Center in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Tournament semifinals.
The Lions climb to 16-10 on the season and advance to their third-consecutive NECC championship match with the win. The Mariners conclude the fall with a 6-16 overall record with the result.
Eliana Baran (Beaumont, Calif.) posted a match-high 18 kills while adding five digs. Emma Graves (Berkshire, N.Y.) finished with 12 kills and four blocks on the night. Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) dished out 37 assists and Amya Altman (Butler, Pa.) paced the squad with 18 digs to along with a pair of service aces.
The home side cruised to a 25-10 win in the first frame to construct a 1-0 advantage.
Eastern Nazarene clipped Mitchell 25-22 in the second set to extend its lead to 2-0.
The Lions edged the Mariners 25-23 in the third to cement their third-straight victory.
Olivia DeLoach registered a team-best 10 kills and chipped in with seven digs to lead the visitors. Claire Binfield chalked up 25 assists while Stephanie Costabile contributed with 12 digs.
Up next, No. 2 seed Eastern Nazarene will trek to top-seeded New England College to face off against the Pilgrims in the NECC Tournament title match November 7.
