Women’s Basketball Earns 68-61 Win Over UMass-Boston
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team picked up its first win over UMass-Boston since 2011, triumphing 68-61 Tuesday evening at the Lahue Athletic Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- UMass-Boston claimed a nine-point advantage, 13-4, with 4:42 remaining in the first quarter on a trey by Sophie Bradbury – the visitors' lone three-pointer in the game.
- Eastern Nazarene clawed back to close out the opening period on an 11-1 run to hold a 15-14 edge.
- The Lions stretched their advantage to 14 as Molly Smith (Hudson, N.H.) banked in a layup with 1:58 on the clock in the second frame, 38-24.
- The home side outscored the guests 23-13 in the second quarter to sport a 38-27 halftime lead.
- An 8-0 run spanning 3:25 pulled the Beacons level at 43-43 with 1:06 to go in the third.
- Both teams netted a layup in the final minute of the third quarter to head to the final frame deadlocked at 45-45.
- After six tie-scores and six lead-changes in the first seven minutes of the fourth period, Eastern Nazarene strung together a 9-3 run to capture a 65-60 advantage with 1:32 remaining in regulation.
- Anaira Ayala (Guaynabo, P.R.) sank one free throw before Genesis McNeill (Providence, R.I.) converted a pair of shots from the charity stripe in the final minute to seal the Lions' seventh victory of the year.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Genesis McNeill (Providence, R.I.) posted her second double-double of the year, scoring 18 points and registering 11 steals to go with four rebounds and four assists.
- Alexandria Paquet (Santa Maria, Calif.) finished with 15 points and five boards.
- Sabanna Berrios (Providence, R.I.) chipped in with 13 points.
- Theresa McCarver (Fairfield, Calif.) hauled in a team-high nine rebounds while adding four points on the night.
- Eastern Nazarene shot 40.6% from the floor and made 4-of-17 three-point attempts.
- UMass-Boston concluded the contest with a field-goal percentage of 41.2% while connecting on 1-of-5 from beyond the arc.
- Kayla Jackson paced the Beacons with 14 points off the bench while Samora Merchant netted 12 points and Tatiannah Fevry tallied 10 points.
