Women’s Basketball Sunk by SUNY Morrisville in OT, 75-69
MORRISVILLE, N.Y.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team endured a 75-69 overtime loss at SUNY Morrisville Saturday to conclude a weekend series.
THE BASICS:
Score: Eastern Nazarene 69, SUNY Morrisville 75
Records: Lions (6-5, 2-3 NAC) | Mustangs (4-8, 2-2 NAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After starting the game with an 18-0 run, Eastern Nazarene boasted a 22-6 advantage after the first quarter.
- The Lions edged the Mustangs 12-8 in second-period scoring to extend their lead to 40-14 at the half.
- SUNY Morrisville outscored the visitors 25-17 in the third frame to narrow the gap to 51-39 heading to the final quarter.
- The home team leveled the score at 61-61 on a trey by Abbie Platt with 3:03 left to play in regulation.
- At the end of 40 minutes of action, the two teams were knotted at 63-63 to send the game to overtime.
- SUNY Morrisville strung together a 4-0 spurt to claim a 72-66 advantage with less than a minute on the clock.
- Eastern Nazarene trimmed the margin to 72-69 as Genesis McNeill (Providence, R.I.) tossed in a layup and Eva Graf (Mather, Calif.) drained a free throw with 37 seconds to go.
- The Mustangs chalked up a layup and a free throw down the stretch to hang on to prevail 75-69.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Sabanna Berrios (Providence, R.I.) netted a team-best 13 points and added six boards.
- Alexandria Paquet (Santa Maria, Calif.) scored 12 points on the day.
- Genesis McNeill (Providence, R.I.) finished with 10 points, five rebounds, and five steals off the bench while Anaira Ayala (Guaynabo, P.R.) tallied 10 points.
- Eastern Nazarene concluded the game with a field-goal percentage of 35.2% to go with a 34.8% effort from behind the arc.
- SUNY Morrisville shot 40% from the floor and knocked down 10-of-31 three-point attempts.
- Anyssia Ingersoll poured in a game-high 22 points to lead the Mustangs while Brooke Hammersley notched a double-double with 17 points and 17 rebounds.
