Women’s Basketball Falls at Mitchell Saturday
NEW LONDON, Conn.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team suffered a 96-61 setback at league-leading Mitchell Saturday afternoon.
THE BASICS:

Records: Lions (9-14, 3-2 NECC) | Mariners (16-9, 6-0 NECC)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Mitchell clung to a narrow 26-25 edge through one quarter of action.
- The Mariners outscored the Lions 24-8 in the second frame to sport a 50-33 advantage at the half.
- The home side poured in 30 points while limiting the visitors to 10 points in the third to widen the margin to 80-43.
- Eastern Nazarene finished with an 18-16 edge in fourth-quarter scoring as Mitchell earned its sixth-straight conference victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Delaney Walker (Nampa, Idaho) netted a team-best 14 points and added four steals.
- Te'yalla Simpson (Fairfield, Texas) tallied 12 points and hauled in four boards.
- Alondra Jimenez (Santa Barbara, Calif.) recorded 11 points, eight rebounds, and four assists while Ashley Quigley (Fields Landing, Calif.) also finished with 11 points and six rebounds.
- Eastern Nazarene posted a field-goal percentage of 38.2% on the day to go with a 22.2% clip from three-point territory.
- Mitchell shot 50% from the floor and 45.8% from long distance on the afternoon.
- Asia Jones paced the Pilgrims with 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists while Mackenzie McDonald added 11 points off the bench.
- The Mariners had five different players finish in double-digit scoring. Amina Wiley posted a double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds while Yasmine Santos also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards. Sam McKenna chipped in with 21 points and Dede Stevenson poured in 17 points.
POSTSEASON PAIRINGS SET:
With one game left to play in the season, the Lions have already claimed the No. 2 seed in the NECC Tournament and will host third-seeded New England College in the semifinal round February 23. Finishing the regular season with an undefeated record in conference play, Mitchell grabbed the No. 1 seed in the NECC Tournament and will host fourth-seeded Lesley in the opening round.
