Women’s Basketball Edged by Mitchell in Overtime, 85-79
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team dropped a hard-fought 85-79 overtime-decision to Mitchell Saturday evening in a thrilling New England Collegiate Conference battle at the Lahue Athletic Center.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first quarter of action featured six tie-scores and five lead-changes as Mitchell clung to a narrow 18-17 edge after 10 minutes of play.
- The Mariners tallied the first six points of the second frame to widen the gap to 24-17 with 8:19 left to play in the period.
- Eastern Nazarene cut the deficit to 29-28 before pulling even at 33-33 on a layup by Mya Landry (Derry, N.H.) with 1:24 on the clock in the second quarter.
- The visitors sported a 38-35 advantage at the midway point of the contest.
- The Lions poured in 21 points in the third frame while limiting the Mariners to just nine points en route to constructing a 56-47 lead heading into the final period of regulation.
- Eastern Nazarene captured its largest lead of the game with 8:55 remaining in the fourth on a bucket by Te'yalla Simpson (Fairfield, Texas), 62-47.
- Mitchell rattled off 13 unanswered points to snag a 65-64 advantage with 3:32 to go in regulation.
- Trailing by three points heading into the final minute of regulation, Eastern Nazarene trimmed the gap to 71-70 on a layup by Ashley Quigley (Fields Landing, Calif.) with 17 seconds on the clock.
- After the visitors pushed their lead to 72-70 on a free throw by Yasmine Santos, Ashley Quigley (Fields Landing, Calif.) drilled a pull-up jump shot to tie the game at 72-72 and force overtime.
- The home side seized a 75-74 edge early in the extra period as Ashley Quigley (Fields Landing, Calif.) splashed a trey from the right wing.
- The Mariners responded with eight consecutive points to manufacture an 82-75 lead with 2:12 left to play in overtime and converted 5-of-6 attempts from the charity stripe to seal the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Alondra Jimenez (Santa Barbara, Calif.) posted her sixth double-double of the year, scoring 24 points and hauling in 12 rebounds to go with three assists and three steals.
- Ashley Quigley (Fields Landing, Calif.) poured in 19 points and dished out four assists.
- Delaney Walker (Nampa, Idaho) tallied 11 points while Anaira Ayala (Guaynabo, P.R.) added 10 points.
- Eastern Nazarene shot 36.1% from the floor and connected on just 5-of-28 from beyond the arc.
- Mitchell finished with a field-goal percentage of 41.5% while shooting 17.2% from three-point range on the night.
- Four players recorded double-doubles for the Mariners in the contest. Amina Wiley finished with 28 points and 16 boards to lead the way. Na'Jae White tallied 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while Yasmine Santos contributed with 13 points and 11 boards. Dede Stevenson notched 10 points and 11 rebounds while Sam McKenna chalked up 13 points.
