Women’s Basketball Upended by Wheaton in OT, 74-71
WENHAM, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team absorbed a 74-71 overtime-loss to Wheaton at the Gordon Tip-Off Tournament Saturday afternoon.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Eastern Nazarene boasted a 27-15 advantage after the first quarter of action.
- Both sides scored 12 points in the second frame as the Lions owned a 39-27 lead at the break.
- Wheaton edged Eastern Nazarene in third-quarter scoring 19-16 to cut the deficit to 55-46.
- The Lyons jumped ahead 60-58 with 3:41 remaining in regulation on a layup by Nasha Arnold.
- After Wheaton widened its lead to 62-58, Eastern Nazarene responded with baskets by Mya Landry (Derry, N.H.) and Delaney Walker (Nampa, Idaho) to even the contest at 62-62 with 1:52 on the clock.
- The Lions regained a two-point edge with 1:20 to go as Walker tossed in a layup, 64-62.
- The Lyons answered on their next possession to level to game at 64-64 to force overtime.
- After a bucket by Alondra Jimenez (Santa Barbara, Calif.) narrowed the gap to 71-70 with 1:12 left to play in the overtime period, Wheaton converted 3-of-4 attempts from the free throw line to seal its first victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Delaney Walker (Nampa, Idaho) poured in a team-high 18 points while registering five assists and five steals.
- Alondra Jimenez (Santa Barbara, Calif.) tallied 16 points to go with seven rebounds, seven assists, and five steals.
- Te'yalla Simpson (Fairfield, Texas) notched her first double-double of the season, scoring 11 points and grabbing 14 boards.
- Mya Landry (Derry, N.H.) added nine points off the bench.
- The Lions shot 38.5% from the floor and 33.3% from behind the arc on the day.
- Wheaton posted a field-goal percentage of 37.7% to go with a 5-for-22 effort from three-point range.

Eastern Nazarene hosts Framingham State November 15 in the first home game of the season.
