Didier Dinh Named NECC Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year; Alondra Jimenez, Sydni Oviatt Earn All-NECC Nods
MANSFIELD, Mass.- First-year head coach Didier Dinh of the Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team has been voted the New England Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year, as the league office announced its end-of-season awards. Seniors Alondra Jimenez (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and Syndi Oviatt (Fruit Heights, Utah) were both garnered All-NECC accolades while Michala O'Donoghue (San Bruno, Calif.) was tabbed to the NECC Del Malloy Sportsmanship Team.
Dinh guided the Lions to a 13-8 overall record and a 5-1 conference mark in his first season. Eastern Nazarene earned a share of the NECC regular-season title and claimed the No. 2 seed in the NECC Tournament.
Jimenez averaged 12.1 points per game and 5.2 assists per contest this season. In league action, she scored 13.7 points and paced the conference with 6.0 assists per game.
Oviatt ranks fourth in the conference with 13.6 points per game and ranks second in the league with a three-point shooting percentage of 33.6%. In conference play, she poured in 15.2 points per contest and grabbed 6.0 rebounds per game.
O'Donoghue played in 20 games and made 11 starts while contributing 3.3 points and 3.0 rebounds per contest this season.
The second-seeded Lions will host No. 3 seed Mitchell in the NECC Tournament semifinals February 24.
