Women’s Basketball Stifles Lesley, 104-61
MEDFORD, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team breezed by Lesley 104-61 on the road Saturday evening.
The Lions improve to 10-8 on the season and 2-1 in the New England Collegiate Conference with the victory. The Lynx drop to 2-12 overall and 0-2 in league competition with the result.
Te'Yalla Simpson (Fairfield, Texas) paced the offense with 16 points off the bench. Alondra Jimenez (Santa Barbara, Calif.) scored 12 points and dished out five assists. Seniesha Sekaquaptewa (Second Mesa, Ariz.) and Delaney Walker (Nampa, Idaho) each finished with 11 points off the bench.
After chalking up the first seven points of the game, the guests pushed their lead to 17-2 with 5:09 left to play in the first quarter on a layup by Sydni Oviatt (Fruit Heights, Utah).
Eastern Nazarene boasted a 28-19 advantage through one quarter of action.
The Lions outscored Lesley 29-12 in the second period to hold a 57-31 lead at the halftime intermission.
The visitors poured in 27 points while limiting the home side to 13 in the third quarter to widen the gap to 84-44.
Eastern Nazarene reached the century-mark with 4:18 on the clock in the fourth on a put-back layup by Mya Landry (Derry, N.H.). The Lions' 104-point output marks the first time this season the squad hit the triple-digit plateau and the first time since January 2020.
The Lions finished with a season-high field-goal percentage of 56.8% while draining 8-of-22 three-point attempts in the contest. The Lynx shot 40.7% from the floor and 28.6% from behind the arc on the evening.
Alexandra Kerley posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 boards while Kizziah Ruff also netted 18 points and Hillary Berry chipped in with 13 points.
