Women’s Basketball Clipped by Babson, 77-61
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team dropped a 77-61 decision to Babson Sunday afternoon at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions dip to 4-2 on the year with the setback while the Beavers finish the season undefeated at 11-0.
Alondra Jimenez (Santa Barbara, Calif.) poured in a team-best 10 points to go with three rebounds, three steals, and three assists. Janeth Cruz (Reseda, Calif.) notched nine points and grabbed five boards while Courtney Barba (Pismo Beach, Calif.) tallied nine points. Delaney Walker (Nampa, Idaho) scored eight points off the bench and Nahatabaa Nacona (Chinle, Ariz.) chipped in with seven points and five boards.
The visitors sprung for 26 points in the opening quarter while the home side netted 10 points.
Babson boasted a 20-point advantage at the halftime break, 41-21, after outscoring Eastern Nazarene 15-11 in the second frame.
The Lions shot 28.6% from the floor and 22.2% from three-point range in the first half. The Beavers owned an efficient field-goal percentage of 64.3% through two quarters of action while draining 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.
Barba and Jimenez each tallied five first-half points while Bailey Craig (Placerville, Calif.) and Nacona each gathered three rebounds.
Eastern Nazarene clawed back in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 53-47 heading into the fourth. The Lions poured in 26 points in the third while allowing just 12 points.
Babson capped off the contest with a 24-14 margin in fourth-quarter scoring to lock up its 11th-consecutive victory.
The Lions posted a field-goal percentage of 36.9% on the day with a 6-for-23 effort from long range. The Beavers shot 56.9% from the floor and 50% from downtown in the game.
Nicole Hiller paced the visitors with 18 points and seven rebounds while Megan Bauman and Jade Perry registered 13 points each.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene will host New England Collegiate Conference foe Mitchell March 17.
