Women’s Basketball Fends Off Fisher for Third-Straight Win
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team earned its third-consecutive victory with a 75-67 win over Fisher Saturday afternoon at the Lahue Athletic Center.
The Lions improve to 3-0 on the season while the Falcons drop to 2-5 overall with the result.
Courtney Barba (Pismo Beach, Calif.) netted a game-high 24 points off the bench while adding four rebounds. Stevie Orton (Gilford, N.H.) posted 17 points and seven boards. Alondra Jimenez (Santa Barbara, Calif.) contributed with nine points and three assists in the contest.
The home side tallied 15 points in the opening period while limiting the visitors to eight points.
Eastern Nazarene owned a 38-34 edge at the half after Fisher held a 26-23 advantage in second-quarter scoring.
The Lions compiled a field-goal percentage of 44.8% in the first half while draining 4-of-6 from behind the arc. The Falcons shot 52% from the floor in the opening two quarters despite an 0-for-4 effort from long range.
Barba led all players with 16 points off the bench at the break while Orton chipped in with 11 points and Jimenez added nine.
Eastern Nazarene stretched its lead to 64-50 after outscoring Fisher 26-16 in the third.
The guests poured in 17 points in the fourth frame but the hosts managed 11 points to seal the victory.
The Lions concluded the contest with a field-goal percentage of 43.4% to go with 5-for-11 shooting from three-point territory. The Falcons shot 46.4% from the floor on the day and connected on 2-of-14 from deep.
Misha O'Neal paced Fisher with 14 points while Alexia Mason recorded 12 points and eight rebounds. Shaniah Hazard chipped in with 11 points and Katie Salas registered 10 in the game.
