Jennelle Munoz Named Wilson/NFCA National Pitcher of the Week
LOUISVILLE, Ky.- Rookie Jennelle Munoz (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) of the Eastern Nazarene College softball team has been tabbed the Wilson/National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA) National Pitcher of the Week, announced the organization Wednesday.
Munoz was selected as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Tournament Most Valuable Player and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team after posting three strong performances in the pitcher's circle to lead the Lions to their second-straight conference championship. She hurled three complete games and finished the NECC Tournament with a 0.00 earned-run average.
Munoz racked up 15 strikeouts in 21 innings of postseason play while surrendering three unearned runs and three walks. Offensively, Munoz batted. 429 with three base knocks and a pair of RBIs.
The 2021 NECC Pitcher of the Year and Rookie of the Year, Munoz has compiled a 15-1 record in the pitcher's circle and sports a 1.37 ERA with 62 strikeouts on the spring. She has pitched 102 innings spanning 16 starts and one relief appearance.
Eastern Nazarene boasts a 24-5 overall record and with the NECC title secured it has punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history. The Lions will learn their NCAA Tournament destination and opening game opponent May 17 as the NCAA Tournament Selection Show airs on NCAA.com.
