Men’s Volleyball Garners Three All-NEVC Selections
SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team collected three All-New England Volleyball Conference accolades as the league office announced its end-of-season awards Monday. Senior Alejandro Garcia Fernandez (San Juan, P.R.) earned All-NEVC first team honors while senior Delfy Soler (Lawrence, Mass.) and junior Jacob Zarges (Quincy, Mass.) claimed spots on the All-NEVC second team. Zarges was also the Lions' representative on the NEVC Sportsmanship Team.
Garcia Fernandez picked up his fourth-consecutive all-conference first team nod after pacing the league with 327 kills and 4.42 kills-per-set while ranking fourth in NCAA Division III with 0.79 aces-per-set. He also notched 115 digs, 25 assists, and 18 total blocks on the year. In conference play, Garcia Fernandez tallied 106 kills and 35 digs.
Soler ranked second on the team with 207 kills while leading the squad with 150 digs. In league action, he registered 69 kills and 39 digs.
Zarges collected his second career all-conference second team accolade after pacing the NEVC with 56 service aces. He also recorded 180 kills, 107 digs, 48 assists, and 33 total blocks. In conference matches, Zarges posted 61 kills and 28 digs to go with 17 service aces.
Eastern Nazarene concluded the 2024 campaign with a program-best 18-7 overall record and posted a 6-1 mark in the NEVC. The Lions clinched the No. 2 seed in the NEVC Tournament and reached the NEVC championship match for the first time in program history.
