Alejandro Garcia Fernandez Grabs Sixth NEVC Player of the Week Nod
SMITHFIELD, R.I.- Senior Alejandro Garcia Fernandez (San Juan, P.R.) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team was named the New England Volleyball Conference Player of the Week for the sixth time this season, as the league announced its weekly awards Tuesday.
He notched 44 kills, 16 digs, nine aces, and four blocks to propel the Lions to three victories on the week, including a key 3-2 win over Endicott to clinch the No. 2 seed in the NEVC Tournament.
This season, Garcia Fernandez ranks fourth in NCAA Division III with 0.76 aces-per-set. He also leads the league with 4.28 kills-per-set and 287 total kills on the year.
Eastern Nazarene boasts a 17-6 overall record and finished the regular season with a 6-1 mark in the NEVC. The Lions will host an NEVC Tournament semifinal match April 11.
