Alejandro Garcia Fernandez Tabbed NECC Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week
MANSFIELD, Mass.- Sophomore Alejandro Garcia Fernandez (Quincy, Mass.) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team has been selected as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week for the fourth time this season, announced the league office Monday.
Garcia Fernandez racked up 30 kills on the week and 10 digs with four blocks as the Lions posted a 1-1 record in the final week of the regular season.
In Eastern Nazarene's 3-0 loss at Lasell, he posted a match-high 18 kills while adding six digs. Garcia Fernandez notched 12 kills, four digs, and four blocks as the Lions rolled past Sage 3-0 in the final regular-season contest.
This season, Garcia Fernandez paces the conference with 437 kills while adding 127 digs and 54 service aces.
Eastern Nazarene sports a 13-12 overall record and finished the regular season with a 3-3 mark in league action to clinch the No. 3 seed. The Lions will host sixth-seeded Sage in the NECC Tournament opening round April 5.
