Jacob Zarges Earns Fourth NECC Men’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week Nod
MANSFIELD, Mass.- Freshman Jacob Zarges (Quincy, Mass.) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season, announced the league office Monday.
Zarges notched 22 kills and 21 digs as the Lions posted a 2-2 record on the week.
He chipped in with four digs and a pair of kills as Eastern Nazarene fell 3-1 at NCAA Division I Sacred Heart. Zarges tallied a match-high nine kills and added two digs as the Lions cruised past Northern Vermont-Johnson 3-0.
Zarges racked up 14 digs and eight kills in Eastern Nazarene's 3-1 non-league win over SUNY Poly. He capped off the week with three kills and one dig as the Lions dropped a 3-0 decision at No. 1 Springfield.
This season, Zarges ranks third on the team with 108 kills to go with 91 digs, 22 aces, and 19 total blocks.
Eastern Nazarene boasts a 12-11 overall record with a 2-3 mark in NECC competition and returns to action March 29 at Lasell.
