Travelis Mosley Claims NECC Men’s Track & Field Rookie of the Year, Seven Placed on All-NECC Team
MARSHFIELD, Mass.- Travelis Mosley (Pompano Beach, Fla.) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's track and field team was named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Men's Track and Field Rookie of the Year, announced the league office Monday.
Mosley posted a remarkable day at the NECC Championships with two individual first-place finishes in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, while also running a leg in both the 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay that each recorded a first-place finish at the meet. Mosley recorded a time of 11.34 seconds in the 100-meter dash and a time of 22.77 seconds in the 200-meter run to secure the gold.
Ralph Tima (Lakeland, Fla.), Jaeden Ortiz (Deltona, Fla.), and Shawn Wright (Baltimore, Md.) each earned a spot on the All-NECC Team through their effort with Mosley in the 4x100-meter relay to lock up a first-place finish at the meet with a new school-record of 44.28 seconds.
Kevin Rop (Silver Spring, Md.) joined Tima, Ortiz, and Mosley on the All-NECC Team after their relay team crossed the finish line first in the 4x400-meter relay at 3:41.38.
Kevin Rodrigues (Dorchester, Mass.) earned his spot on the All-NECC Team after his stellar performance in the 1,500-meter run to collect first-place at a personal-best 4:27.33.
The lone hurdler for Eastern Nazarene, Joel Piercey (Randolph, Mass.) was placed on the All-NECC Team by grabbing first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 19.27 seconds.
In his final year with the Lions, Matthew Mansaray (Acushnet, Mass.) was tabbed to the NECC Del Malloy Sportsmanship Team.
Eastern Nazarene claimed second in the team standings at the NECC Championships April 28.
