Men’s Tennis Endures 6-1 Loss at No. 12 Lynn
BOCA RATON, Fla.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team wrapped up its trip to the Sunshine State with a 6-1 loss at nationally-ranked Lynn Thursday.
The Lions slide to 5-5 on the season with the setback while the Fighting Knights, ranked No. 12 in the latest ITA NCAA Division II rankings, improve to 8-0 overall with the win.
Diego Rodriguez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Carlos Sanchez (Malaga, Spain) suffered a 6-0 setback at the No. 1 doubles spot to Will Kirkman and Ignacio Martinez.
Iago Alcover (Mallorca, Spain) and Baldo Karinja (Zadar, Croatia) dropped a 6-4 decision to Ryan Neale and Nicolas Cabrera at the second doubles position.
Carlos Gallardo (Tulua, Colombia) and Simao Nobre (Lisbon, Portugal) fell 6-2 at the No. 3 slot to Kaivon Minaei and Aron Stajszak.
Eastern Nazarene's lone victory on the day came at the top singles spot as Rodriguez won by retirement.
Alcover absorbed a 6-1, 6-1 loss at the No. 2 position to Martinez while Nobre fell 6-2, 6-0 to Gianmarco Amatiste at the third slot.
Gallardo suffered a 6-1, 6-0 setback to Gabrielle Felline at the fourth spot. Diego Torres (Weston, Fla.) dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision at the No. 5 position to Dan Kaplun. Avelino Parrondo (Madrid, Spain) fell 6-3, 6-2 in the sixth singles match to Cabrera.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will open GNAC play March 19 at home against Norwich.
