Men’s Tennis Falls at Florida National, 6-1
HIALEAH, Fla.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team suffered a 6-1 setback at Florida National Saturday afternoon in its first match in the Sunshine State.
The Lions slip to 5-2 on the year with the result while the Conquistadors climb to 2-1 overall.
The visitors posted a pair of doubles wins to secure the doubles point and establish a 1-0 lead.
Diego Rodriguez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Carlos Sanchez (Malaga, Spain) topped Jerry Makela and Hamish Lee 6-3 at the No. 1 doubles spot.
Simao Nobre (Lisbon, Portugal) and Carlos Gallardo (Tulua, Colombia) edged Sebastian Fujita and Alan Schmidt 6-4 at the second doubles slot.
Avelino Parrondo (Madrid, Spain) and Diego Torres (Weston, Fla.) fell 6-1 at the No. 3 position to Luigi Stefanacci and Jules Grignon.
The home side notched six singles victories in straight-sets to clinch the match, 6-1.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene takes on No. 17 Ave Maria March 6.
