Men’s Tennis Opens Spring Slate with 7-2 Win at Gordon
MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team downed Gordon 7-2 in the first match of the spring season Wednesday evening at Manchester Athletic Club.
The Lions improve to 5-1 on the year with the win while the Fighting Scots fall to 0-2 overall.
Eastern Nazarene swept the three doubles matches to claim a 3-0 advantage.
Diego Rodriguez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Carlos Sanchez (Malaga, Spain) topped Ezekiel Hall and Mark Noschese 8-1 at the top doubles spot.
Simao Nobre (Lisbon, Portugal) and Carlos Gallardo (Tulua, Colombia) blanked John Marineau and Nathan Gonzalez 8-0 at the No. 2 position.
Diego Torres (Weston, Fla.) and Avelino Parrondo (Madrid, Spain) earned an 8-3 win at the No. 3 slot over Alex Ryzi and Adrian Thomas.
The Lions notched four singles victories to secure their fifth-straight win over Gordon.
Nobre prevailed 6-4, 6-3 at the second position over Marineau while Parrondo collected a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Ryzi at the fourth spot.
Torres coasted past Gonzalez 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5 slot and Sanchez triumphed 6-1, 6-3 over Thomas at the sixth singles position.
