Men’s Tennis Blanks Gordon in Fall Finale
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over Gordon to wrap up the fall slate Wednesday afternoon at the ENC Tennis Courts.
The Lions improve to 4-1 on the year with the win while the Fighting Scots dip to 0-1 overall.
Diego Rodriguez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Carlos Sanchez (Malaga, Spain) edged John Marineau and Mark Noschese 8-6 at the top doubles spot.
Carlos Gomez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Avelino Parrondo (Madrid, Spain) topped Nathan Gonzalez and Alex Ryzi 8-1 at the No. 2 position.
Simao Nobre (Lisbon, Portugal) and Baldo Karinja (Zadar, Croatia) earned an 8-1 victory at the No. 3 slot over Adrian Thomas and Brendan Tuttle.
Rodriguez notched a 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 1 singles spot over Marineau. Nobre downed Noschese 6-2, 6-1 at the second position.
Sanchez collected a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the third slot over Gonzalez to climb to 5-0 in singles action on the season.
Gomez posted a 6-4, 6-3 win over Ryzi at the No. 4 spot while Parrondo breezed by Thomas 6-0, 6-0 at the fifth position.
Karinja claimed his first singles victory of the year, defeating Tuttle in straight sets at the No. 6 slot.
Eastern Nazarene will resume the 2021-22 campaign in the spring. The Lions will be looking to defend their 2019 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) title.
