Freddy Perez (’11) Elevated to Head Men’s Soccer Coach
QUINCY, Mass.- Eastern Nazarene College Director of Athletics Dr. Brad Zarges has announced the hiring of Freddy Perez ('11) as head men's soccer coach. Perez becomes the 16th head coach in the program's 58-year history.
"It is with great pleasure that we announce the hiring of Freddy Perez to the position of head coach for ENC men's soccer. Freddy has been instrumental in helping build the current success of the program," stated Zarges. "As Associate Head Coach, he has been involved in all aspects of the program, including recruiting, practice and game planning, and player development. With his love of ENC, his desire to see each player grow spiritually and succeed academically, and his competitive drive for team success, Freddy is the ideal person to lead the program to even higher levels of achievement."
Perez has spent the past five seasons with the Lions as an assistant coach and more recently as Associate Head Coach. In his time at Eastern Nazarene, the Lions have compiled a 37-38-4 record and captured the program's first-ever New England Collegiate Conference championship in 2019 as well as the program's first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Under Perez's tutelage, 14 student-athletes have garnered All-NECC accolades while 28 earned academic all-conference honors.
"I am incredibly thankful to Athletic Director Dr. Brad Zarges, President Dr. Jack Connell and the search committee for the opportunity to lead the Men's Soccer program. I would also like to thank former head coach Mark Bell who gave me the opportunity to join the program as an assistant coach five years ago. Coach Bell's vison, passion, and leadership have brought the ENC men's soccer program to new heights and have served as a good example for me to follow as I assume the role of Head Coach. As an alumnus of Eastern Nazarene College and the men's soccer program, I am honored to be trusted with future direction of the program and to continue being a part of the ENC community. I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished in my time as an assistant coach and I am thrilled to continue working with the team and to continue building toward more success on the pitch and in the classroom," commented Perez.
Perez was a four-year member of the Eastern Nazarene men's soccer program and graduated with a degree in Biology in 2011.
Perez holds a USSF "E" license and also serves as a head coach with the AFC Boston Bolts boys' and girls' club teams.
