Vargas, Frotsher Claim NECC Men’s Soccer Weekly Accolades
MANSFIELD, Mass.- For the second-straight week, the Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team has swept the New England Collegiate Conference weekly awards. Junior Bryan Vargas (San Jose, Costa Rica) repeated as NECC Player of the Week while freshman Michael Frotscher (Tramin, Italy) was tabbed the NECC Rookie of the Week, announced the league office Monday.
The duo helped the Lions to a pair of victories on the week, including a win in the first conference match of the campaign.
Vargas netted a pair of goals, including the game-winning strike, in Eastern Nazarene's 3-2 overtime win at Framingham State.
Frotscher registered one goal and one assist on the week as he recorded an assist in the Lions' victory at Framingham State before tallying the lone score in Eastern Nazarene's 1-0 win at New England College
This season, Vargas paces the league with 16 points and seven goals while Frotscher has notched a pair of tallies and two helpers.
The Lions are riding a five-match winning-streak and boast an 8-4-0 overall record to go with a 1-0-0 mark in the New England Collegiate Conference.
Eastern Nazarene travels to nationally-ranked Middlebury October 13.
