CHICOPEE, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team extended its winning-streak to six-consecutive matches with a 1-0 victory on the road at Elms Saturday afternoon in the first New England Collegiate Conference contest of the season.
The Lions climb to 6-1-0 on the year and 1-0-0 in New England Collegiate Conference action with the win. The Blazers drop to 1-4-2 overall and 0-1-0 in league play with the outcome.
The guests grabbed an early 1-0 lead as Leon Zaffonato (Canela, Brazil) buried his third goal of the season in the seventh minute of the match.
Eastern Nazarene held a 1-0 lead at the break while outshooting Elms 12-2 in the opening 45 minutes of action.
Neither squad found the back of the net in the second stanza as the Lions captured their sixth victory in a row.
Eastern Nazarene concluded the match with a commanding 28-6 advantage in shots along with a 13-4 margin in corner kicks earned on the day.
Junior netminder Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) recorded two saves in his second-straight start to earn his first career clean sheet.
