WESTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team absorbed a 3-1 setback at Regis Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions slip to 0-3-0 on the year with the outcome while the Pride improves to 2-0-0 overall.
Regis netted the match's opening score in the 19th minute to grab a 1-0 lead. Derek Triana buried his second goal of the season.
The home side doubled its advantage to 2-0 in the 20th minute. Ken Niyonzima picked up his first tally of the year off of an assist by Fabyanno Furbino.
Eastern Nazarene got on the board in the 23rd minute to cut the deficit to 2-1. Cyprian Okwaro (Randolph, Mass.) notched his team-leading second marker of the fall.
The Pride nearly regained a two-goal edge in the 37th minute but Triana's penalty kick effort sailed wide of the cage.
Both squads fired six shots in the first half while the Lions held a 2-0 edge in corner kicks earned.
Regis tacked on a goal in the 77th minute to reclaim a two-score lead, 3-1. Brendan Plasczynski collected his first tally of the season as Sal Madera provided the assist.
Florian Resch (St. Stefan, Austria) turned aside one shot in his third start of the season. Didac Gomes Castellvi (Tarragona, Spain) registered one save in his first collegiate appearance in net.
Eastern Nazarene produced eight shots on the day while earning a pair of corner kicks. The Pride finished with 12 shots and zero corners.
