QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team endured a 4-0 loss at Husson Saturday evening in the first meeting between the two teams since 1986.
The Lions slide to 0-3-0 on the season with the result while the Eagles improve to 1-1-0 overall.
The home team raced out to an early 1-0 edge after a strike in the 14th minute by Martin Lindholm.
Husson doubled its lead to 2-0 in the 29th minute as Miguel Caballero netted his first goal of the season off of an assist by Saker Ghanayem.
Eastern Nazarene managed just two shots in the opening half while the Eagles attempted 11 shots.
The hosts tacked on their third goal of the match in the 72nd minute. Ghanayem picked up his first score of the season as Caballero provided the assist.
Husson extended the lead to 4-0 late in the contest. Nick Whitehead headed home a corner kick off the foot of Nathan Firlings with just 11 seconds remaining.
The Lions concluded the contest with five shots and one corner kick awarded. The Eagles produced 24 shots and earned 11 corner kicks on the night.
Noah Roberts (Haverhill, Mass.) and Samuel Cueva (Swampscott, Mass.) each fired one shot on frame for the visitors.
Rookie Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) recorded two saves in his third start of the season. Victor Mendoza (Cathedral, Calif.) replaced Eddings between the pipes at halftime and stopped three shots in his first appearance of the season.
