Andrew Nelson Garners All-CCC First Team Accolades, Men’s Soccer Receives CCC Team Sportsmanship Award
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Sophomore forward Andrew Nelson (Burtonsville, Md.) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team has been selected to the All-Commonwealth Coast Conference first team and the Lions also earned the Commonwealth Coast Conference Team Sportsmanship Award, as announced by the league office.
Eastern Nazarene received the Commonwealth Coast Conference Team Sportsmanship Award for the third-straight year and the ninth time in program history.
Nelson collected his second career All-Commonwealth Coast Conference nod after earning second team honors last fall. He becomes the first player in program history to earn All-CCC first team plaudits since Jason Barry and Dimitrio Ellinas were both voted to the first team in 1995.
This season, the sophomore paced the Lions and ranked second in the league with 11 goals while his 27 points tied him for the league lead. Nelson also dished out a team-best five assists this fall and netted a pair of game-winners.
He found the back of the net in each of Eastern Nazarene's first four matches of the campaign, including hat tricks against Lesley and Wheelock.
Nelson started 17 of the 18 contests in which he saw action this season and was named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week once.
The Lions posted an 8-9-1 overall record in 2015 and finished with an 0-8-1 mark in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
