QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team wrapped up the 2015 campaign with a narrow 2-1 loss to Wentworth Tuesday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The Lions finish at 8-9-1 on the year and 0-8-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Leopards, ranked No. 11 in the NCAA Regional Rankings, improve to 13-4-0 overall and 6-3-0 in league play.
The away team raced out to a 1-0 advantage in the seventh minute. Noah Martins buried his sixth goal of the season after his initial effort was parried.
Eastern Nazarene responded in the 27th minute to level the contest at 1-1. Jacob Mason (Southport, England) drilled a free kick from 30 yards out into the back of the net for his fourth marker of the year.
Wentworth reclaimed the lead in the 81st minute to go ahead 2-1. Matt Cicalis tucked a glancing-header just inside the left post to pick up his fourth tally fall after a cross by Sam Martins.
David Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) stopped five shots between the pipes for the Lions. Matthew Sekerak made a pair of saves in net for the Leopards on the night.
The home side generated seven shots in the match while the visitors attempted 21 shots.
Prior to the start of the game, the Eastern Nazarene men's soccer program honored its senior class: Luis Lopez (Alexandria, Va.), Michael Peter (Darlington, Md.) and Jonathan Stiles (Duxbury, Mass.).
