Lopez Lifts Men’s Soccer to 2-1 Victory at Pine Manor

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.- Senior Luis Lopez (Alexandria, Va.) netted two goals to propel the Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team to a 2-1 win at Pine Manor Monday afternoon in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
The Lions improve to 7-5-0 overall while the Gators drop to 7-3-1 on the year.
The guests got on the board in the 32nd minute to take a 1-0 edge. Lopez buried his second marker of the season after a tremendous solo effort dribbling down the center before firing a shot past the goalkeeper.
Pine Manor evened the match at 1-1 in the 62nd minute on Jahvar Gayle's first tally of the season.
Eastern Nazarene reclaimed the lead in the 81st minute as Lopez found the back of the net for the second time on the day. David Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) passed the ball backwards to setup Lopez for a one-time shot.
The Lions outshot the Gators 18-12 in the contest and earned all five corner kicks.
Jameson MacFarland (Jacksonville, Fla.) made five saves in goal for the visitors. Oscar Estrada stopped six shots between the pipes for the hosts.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene is slated to battle Gordon October 10.
