SOMERVILLE, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team capped off a seven-match road swing with a 3-1 victory over Newbury Wednesday at Dilboy Stadium.
The Lions improve to 6-2-0 on the year while the Nighthawks flutter to 4-6-0 overall.
The hosts snagged a 1-0 edge in the 21st minute as Mario Herrera netted his first goal of the season.
Eastern Nazarene clawed back to knot the contest at 1-1 just minutes before halftime. Senior Luis Lopez (Alexandria, Va.) buried his first marker of the fall in the 43rd minute as he booted home a rebound after David Eddings' (Endicott, N.Y.) attempt was saved.
The Lions vaulted to a 2-1 lead in the 65th minute on a tally by Connor Hudson-Bryant (Weymouth, Mass.). Andrew Nelson (Burtonsville, Md.) slipped a through-ball to Hudson-Bryant who bagged his second score of the season.
In the 71st minute, the visitors struck for the third time in the game to tack on an insurance goal. Joao Costa (Framingham, Mass.) headed in a delivery off the foot of Nicholas Fernandez (Foster, R.I.) to pick up his third goal of the year.
Eastern Nazarene finished with a narrow 12-11 edge in shots on the afternoon while Newbury held a 7-3 margin in corner kicks earned.
Jameson MacFarland (Jacksonville, Fla.) registered six saves to earn his sixth win of the fall in net. Jarrod Smith stopped six shots for the Nighthawks.
