NEW LONDON, N.H.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team bagged three first-half goals en route to a 4-2 win at former Commonwealth Coast Conference foe Colby-Sawyer Saturday afternoon.
The Lions rise to 2-0-0 on the year with the victory while the Chargers slide to 0-2-0 overall.
The visitors broke open the scoring in the 10th minute to seize a 1-0 lead as Andrew Nelson (Burtonsville, Md.) buried his team-leading fourth goal of the season
Eastern Nazarene increased its advantage to 3-0 with a pair of goals in the 43rd minute, just 21 seconds apart. David Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) scored his second marker of the season off of an assist by Jacob Mason (Southport, England) before Mason notched an unassisted score seconds later for his first of the fall.
The Lions held a slim 7-5 edge in first half shots while the Chargers owned a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks earned.
Colby-Sawyer got on the scoreboard in the 53rd minute as Kevin Tracy finished off a feed from Denali Sexton, cutting the gap to 3-1.
The Chargers pulled to within one with 19:20 left to play, 3-2, as Zach Elmore found the back of the net for his first goal of the year.
With 13:26 remaining in the contest, Eddings deposited his third tally of the season and second of the match to restore Eastern Nazarene's lead to two goals, 4-2.
The guests finished with a total of 14 shots on the day, including seven on frame. The home side fired 15 shots in the game with seven aimed on goal.
Junior Jameson MacFarland (Jacksonville, Fla.) picked up his second victory of the year between the pipes while registering five saves. Sean Babinski stopped three shots in goal for Colby-Sawyer.
