NORTHFIELD, Vt.- The Eastern Nazarene men's soccer team dropped a narrow 1-0 decision at Norwich in non-conference play Monday evening at Sabine Field.
The Lions slip to 0-4-0 on the season with the loss while the Cadets improve to 5-1-1 overall.
Anthony Amell tallied the home team's lone score, directing a snap-header into the back of the net from the top of the six-yard box to record his first of the season in the 14th minute of play. Christian Albrecht served in a cross from the endline on the left side to pick up the assist.
Norwich headed into the halftime intermission owning a 9-1 edge in shots and a 3-0 margin in corner kicks earned.
The two squads logged a scoreless second period as the Cadets held onto to prevail 1-0.
Eastern Nazarene finished the match with four shots while Norwich registered 17 on the night.
Will Campbell (South Anchorage, Alaska) fired a team-high two attempts while Scott Hansen (Middletown Spring, Vt.) and Josh Henry (Lowell, Mass.) each recorded one shot in the contest.
Junior goalkeeper Jake Johnson (Mount Bethel, Pa.) made seven saves between the posts for the Lions in the game.
