Men’s Soccer Drops Road Match at Johnson & Wales Saturday
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene College men’s soccer team absorbed a 2-0 loss at Johnson & Wales Saturday afternoon at Pierce Stadium.

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team absorbed a 2-0 loss at Johnson & Wales Saturday afternoon at Pierce Stadium. The Lions progress to 1-1 overall while the Wildcats improve to 1-0 on the year.
The hosts broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute as Kyle Metz netted his first goal of the season.
Johnson & Wales owned a 1-0 edge at the midway point of the match. Eastern Nazarene held a 5-3 advantage in shots and a 5-0 margin in corner kicks earned through the first 45 minutes of play.
The Wildcats tacked on their second tally of the match in the 80th minute. Chris Zappel found the back of the net off of a Dustin Hughes feed to double the home side's lead.
The Lions finished the game with nine shots, led by Edgar Arceo (Minden, NV) with three. Johnson & Wales recorded four shots on the day with two attempts on target.
Jake Johnson (Mount Bethel, Pa.) earned his second start of the season between the pipes for Eastern Nazarene Saturday. Austin Scoggin made three stops in goal for the Wildcats to collect the victory.
The Lions return to action September 5 as they travel to face Wheelock. The match will be played at Wentworth Institute of Technology's Sweeney Field in Boston, Mass.
