McGuinness, White Earn All-NECC Men’s Basketball Accolades
MANSFIELD, Mass.- Junior Bernie McGuinness (Cumming, Ga.) and senior Levi White (Springfield, Mass.) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's basketball team were both selected to the All-New England Collegiate Conference Team, announced the league office Tuesday. Sophomore Kobe Jones (Picayune, Miss.) was also named to the NECC Del Malloy Sportsmanship Team.
McGuinness was the only player to start all 25 games this season for the Lions. He paced the squad and ranked second in the conference with 16.6 points per game while leading the league with 7.4 rebounds per contest. McGuinness shot 47.1% from the floor and ranked second in the NECC with a three-point shooting percentage of 37.1% on the year.
In conference play, McGuinness averaged 17.5 points and 9.3 boards per contest. He shot 52.9% from the field and 43.6% from beyond the arc in six league games this season.
White ranked third in the conference with 13.4 points per game and second in the league with 7.3 rebounds per game this year. In NECC action, he averaged 15.3 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest. White also chipped in with 3.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game in conference play.
Jones was one of just three players to appear in all 25 games this season for the Lions. He averaged 9.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game and ranked fifth in the league in field-goal percentage (47.3%) and three-point shooting percentage (34.6%).
Eastern Nazarene concluded the regular season with an 11-14 overall record. After finishing with a 3-3 mark in league play, the Lions claimed the No. 2 seed in the NECC Tournament and will host third-seeded New England College in the semifinals February 22.
