Bernie McGuinness Tabbed NECC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
MANSFIELD, Mass.- Sophomore Bernie McGuiness (Cumming, Ga.) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's basketball team earned his second New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week nod, announced the league office Monday.
McGuinness powered the Lions to an 85-49 victory at Lesley with his fourth-consecutive double-double and ninth of the season. He poured in a game-high 30 points while hauling in 11 rebounds to go with six assists and two steals. McGuiness shot 75% from the floor and connected on 4-of-5 from beyond the arc in the contest.
McGuiness ranks second in the conference with 19.4 points per game while leading the league with 8.4 rebounds per contest. His 53.9% field-goal percentage ranks atop the NECC while he also ranks second in the league with a 44.6% three-point shooting clip.
Eastern Nazarene boasts a 13-10 overall record with a 4-1 mark in conference action. The Lions host Mitchell February 21 in a pivotal showdown.
