Baseball Swept in Non-Conference Twinbill at Lesley
LEXINGTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College baseball team suffered a pair of setbacks at Lesley Saturday, falling 6-1 and 19-13.
GAME ONE
THE BASICS:
Score: Eastern Nazarene 1, Lesley 6
Records: Lions (3-10) | Lynx (7-7)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lesley plated three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to grab a 3-0 edge.
- Eastern Nazarene produced one run in the sixth to cut the deficit to 3-1. Brandon Mercado (Stoughton, Mass.) laced a two-out single to drive in Anderson Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.) from second base.
- The Lynx tallied three runs in the home half of the sixth frame to widen the margin to 6-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Brandon Mercado (Stoughton, Mass.) finished with two hits and one RBI.
- Eduardo Labour (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) collected a pair of base knocks.
- Luke Descheneaux (Lowell, Mass.) pitched five innings and struck out four batters in his second start of the spring. Paul Foster (North Billerica, Mass.) and Anthony Ventura (La Romana, Dominican Republic) both made relief appearances.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lesley chalked up a run in the bottom of the first inning to snag a 1-0 lead.
- Eastern Nazarene responded with one run in the top of the second to level the contest at 1-1. Anderson Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.) roped a double to left-centerfield to drive in Brandon Mercado (Stoughton, Mass.).
- The Lynx manufactured four runs in the home half of the second inning to claim a 5-1 advantage.
- The Lions picked up a run in the third to trim the gap to 5-2. O'Neil Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.) scurried home from third base on a wild pitch.
- Lesley generated five runs in the bottom of the third to extend its lead to 10-2.
- Eastern Nazarene plated a run in the fourth to narrow the margin to 10-3. Francis Ferguson (Jefferson, Mass.) tagged up and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Andiover Feliz (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic).
- The Lions scored once in the top of the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 10-4. Elvis Rojas (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) crossed the dish on an RBI groundout by Frank Landeiro (Orlando, Fla.).
- The visitors produced four runs in the sixth to pull to within two, 10-8. Brandon Mercado (Stoughton, Mass.) belted a leadoff solo shot to notch his second homer of the season. O'Neil Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.) launched his first career home run, a three-run blast to knock in Andiover Feliz (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) and Anderson Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.).
- Lesley tacked on a run in the bottom of the sixth frame to stretch its advantage to 11-8.
- The home side exploded for seven runs in the seventh to widen the gap to 18-8.
- Eastern Nazarene tallied three runs in the top of the eighth inning to trim the margin to 18-11. Eduardo Labour (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) raked a single to right field to drive in Elvis Rojas (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) and O'Neil Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.). Francis Ferguson (Jefferson, Mass.) flared a base knock to left field to score Eduardo Labour (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) with two outs in the frame.
- The Lynx added a run in the eighth to capture a 19-11 lead.
- The Lions managed a pair of runs in the top of the ninth to cut the deficit to 19-13. Elvis Rojas (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) scorched a two-out single to centerfield to plate Anderson Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.) and Luke Descheneaux (Lowell, Mass.).
