Baseball’s McNamara, Miednik Collect NECC Weekly Awards
MANSFIELD, Mass.- Junior Shane McNamara (Londonderry, N.H.) and freshman Max Miednik (Parkland, Fla.) of the Eastern Nazarene College baseball team garnered New England Collegiate Conference weekly awards, announced the league office Monday. McNamara was named the NECC Player of the Week while Miednik picked up his second NECC Rookie of the Week nod of the season.
McNamara and Miednik helped the Lions to a 3-1 record on the week with a pair of wins over Gordon and a doubleheader split with Fisher.
McNamara racked up six hits, six runs scored, and 10 RBIs on the week.
In Eastern Nazarene's sweep of Gordon, McNamara belted three home runs to finish the day with three runs scored and eight RBIs. He chipped in with three hits, three runs scored, and a pair of RBIs as the Lions split with Fisher.
The junior posted a .375 batting average on the week to go with a 1.000 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .389.
This spring, McNamara ranks second in the league with 14 RBIs while leading the conference with four home runs.
Miednik posted four base knocks, scored five runs, drove in one RBI, and swiped a base on the week. He notched two hits, two runs scored, and an RBI as Eastern Nazarene swept Gordon. In the Lions' split with Fisher, Miednik contributed with two hits and two runs scored to go with a stolen base.
The rookie hit .308 on the week with an on-base percentage of .400.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene travels to St. Joseph's (Maine) March 30 before returning home to host Trinity March 31. The Lions will open league play April 2 at home versus Becker.
