Baseball’s Roldan, Ferguson Garner NECC Weekly Awards
MANSFIELD, Mass.- Junior Jaime Roldan (Boston, Mass.) and sophomore Francis Ferguson (Jefferson, Mass.) of the Eastern Nazarene College baseball team claimed New England Collegiate Conference weekly awards, announced the league office Monday. Roldan was tabbed the NECC Player of the Week while Ferguson was selected as the NECC Pitcher of the Week.
Roldan and Ferguson led the Lions to a 2-1 record on the week in a three-game series versus Bridgewater State.
Roldan recorded four hits, three RBIs, and a pair of runs scored on the week. He posted a base knock and a run scored in Eastern Nazarene's 4-2 win over Bridgewater State. Roldan capped off the week with three hits, including two doubles, to go with three RBIs and one run as the Lions' cruised past the Bears 13-4 in the opening tilt of a doubleheader.
This season, Roldan is batting .417 with an on-base percentage of .632 and a slugging percentage of .583. He has notched five hits and driven in five RBIs while scoring three runs.
In his team-leading third start of the season on the hill, Ferguson racked up 10 strikeouts in seven innings of action to pick up his first win of the year. The sophomore southpaw scattered five hits and three walks while surrendering just two runs.
This spring, Ferguson paces the Lions' pitching staff with 14 innings pitched and 14 strikeouts to go with a 1-1 record on the bump.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene returns to the diamond March 24 to host Gordon in a non-league doubleheader.
