Steven Pesce Picks Up NECC Baseball Player of the Week Honors
MARSHFIELD, Mass.- Junior Steven Pesce (Harrison, N.Y.) of the Eastern Nazarene College baseball team has been tabbed the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week, announced the league office Monday.
Pesce went 13-for-23 from the dish on the week with seven runs scored, six RBIs, and two stolen bases to lead the Lions to a 6-0 record.
The junior collected one base knock as Eastern Nazarene blanked Curry 4-0. Pesce notched three hits, including his second home run of the year, to go with two RBIs and two runs in the Lion's 10-2 win at Gordon.
In a doubleheader-sweep over Dean, Pesce finished with six hits, four runs scored, and three RBIs. He wrapped up the week with three base knocks, one RBI, and one run scored as Eastern Nazarene topped Newbury twice.
This season, Pesce leads the Lions with a .394 batting average along with 29 RBIs, 41 hits, and two homers. He is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak and has tallied a base hit in 22 contests this spring.
Eastern Nazarene sports a 16-11 overall record with a 5-3 mark in the NECC. The Lions return to action April 17 as they host Wentworth in a non-conference tilt.
