Baran, Aceituno Claim NECC Women’s Volleyball Weekly Accolades
MANSFIELD, Mass.- Sophomore Eliana Baran (Beaumont, Calif.) and freshman Andrea Aceituno (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) of the Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team have been named the New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, announced the league office Monday.
Baran repeated as NECC Player of the Week after notching a pair of 13-kill performances to lead the Lions to 3-0 victories over Mitchell and New England College. She also chipped in with five digs, four blocks, and two aces. This season, Baran leads the conference with 4.55 kills-per-set and 273 total kills.
Aceituno posted 15 kills, 14 digs, and eight service aces as Eastern Nazarene swept Mitchell and New England College. This fall, she ranks third in the league with 186 kills and 2.70 kills-per-set.
Riding a 14-match winning streak, Eastern Nazarene finished the regular season with a 21-1 overall record and claimed the NECC regular-season title with a 6-0 conference mark. The Lions grabbed the No. 1 seed in the NECC Tournament and will host fourth-seeded Lesley in the semifinals November 3.
