Women’s Volleyball Falls at Rivier, 3-1
NASHUA, N.H.- In just its second road match of the year, the Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 setback at Rivier Wednesday evening.
The Lions move to 6-4 overall as their six-match winning-streak is snapped with the result. The Raiders improve to 7-5 on the year with the win.
Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) paced the visitors with 12 kills to go with nine digs on the night. Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) finished with seven kills and 12 digs while Halle Julian (Whitman, Mass.) also notched seven kills. Amya Altman (Butler, Pa.) collected a team-high 17 digs and Jessica Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) tallied 13 digs in the match. Samantha Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) recorded 23 assists, seven digs, and three kills.
The home team seized a 1-0 lead after prevailing 25-13 in the opening set.
Eastern Nazarene clawed back to even the match at 1-1 with a 25-23 win in the second frame.
Rivier reclaimed a one-set edge after edging the Lions 27-25 in the third game.
The Raiders locked up the victory with a 25-21 decision in the fourth.
Sydney Racevicius led the hosts with 18 kills while Jess Whyte and Taylor Dunster both racked up 16 kills.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene begins New England Collegiate Conference action September 21 at home against Mitchell.
