
Rojas, Poletto Headline Women’s Tennis All-Conference Honorees
WATERVILLE, Maine- Graduate student Sofia Rojas (Medellin, Colombia) of the Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team was named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Co-Player of the Year and Sara Poletto (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) garnered NAC Rookie of the Year honors, as the league office announced its end-of-season awards Thursday.
Rojas and Poletto also earned All-NAC singles while the tandem of Pamela Gonzalez (San Luis Potosi, Mexico) and Rojas claimed All-NAC doubles accolades. Senior Mya Landry (Derry, N.H.) was selected to the NAC Sportsmanship Team.
Rojas becomes the first student-athlete in program history to collect conference Player of the Year honors while Poletto becomes the first conference Rookie of the Year.
Rojas boasts an 11-0 record in singles action and compiled a 5-0 singles mark in league matches, playing at the No. 1 singles position all year. She also owns an 8-3 record in doubles matches and posted a 4-1 record in conference doubles matches.
Poletto sports a 9-2 record in singles play this fall and rolled through conference competition with a 5-0 singles record. She boasts a 6-3 mark in doubles action and posted a 2-1 doubles record in league play.
Gonzalez and Rojas combined to register a 5-2 record in doubles matches and tallied a 3-0 mark in conference action this fall at the top doubles position.
Landry owns a 4-0 record in singles action and collected a pair of victories in NAC play this season.
Eastern Nazarene sports a 9-2 overall record and finished the North Atlantic Conference slate with an unbeaten 5-0 record. The Lions clinched the No. 1 seed in the NAC Tournament and will face fourth-seeded Thomas in the semifinal round September 30.
