Women’s Soccer Falls to Suffolk Tuesday
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team suffered a 6-0 setback to Suffolk Tuesday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The Lions dip to 2-5-0 on the season with the result while the Rams improve to 4-2-0 overall.
The guests grabbed a 1-0 edge in the 10th minute as Aislinn Servaes bagged her second goal of the season.
Suffolk doubled its lead to 2-0 in the 12th minute. Lily Christian found Servaes unmarked at the top of the box for the rookie to fire her second marker of the contest into the right side of the cage.
The Rams tacked on their third score of the opening frame to widen the margin to 3-0 in the 15th minute. Servaes picked up her own rebound and knocked in her third tally of the game and fourth on the year.
The home team registered two shots in the first half while the visitors attempted 11.
Suffolk added a goal in the 48th minute to stretch its advantage to 4-0. Nicole Morin-Trotta notched her first marker of the year with a right-footed shot while Kylie Flynn picked up her team-leading third assist.
The Rams chalked up their fifth tally of the game in the 62nd minute to push the gap to 5-0. Flynn floated a direct free kick into the back of the net for her first goal of the fall.
Suffolk capped off the scoring with an 85th minute goal by Jazmya Harris after a through-ball by Emily Egan.
Eastern Nazarene managed a pair of shots on the night as seniors Sam Baston (Carver, Mass.) and Sarah Moschini (Upton, Mass.) each registered a shot on goal. The guests rattled off 28 shot attempts and concluded the contest with a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks earned.
Sophia Fevola (Wellington, Fla.) posted four saves in her seventh start of the season. Jasmine Arzu (Bronx, N.Y.) took over in goal at the start of the second half and finished with a season-high eight saves in her third game of the fall.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene will tangle with Mass. Maritime September 28 at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
