Women’s Soccer Prevails 1-0 at Anna Maria in Midweek Matchup

PAXTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team clipped Anna Maria 1-0 on the road Wednesday evening in the first matchup between the two teams since 2010.

The Lions climb to 2-1-0 on the season with the victory while the AMCats fall to 1-2-0 overall with the decision.

The guests chalked up the match's only goal in the 13th minute to grasp a 1-0 advantage. Diamond Best (Danvers, Mass.) converted a penalty kick to notch her first tally of the fall.

Eastern Nazarene touted the one-goal lead at the halftime break and held a 3-2 edge in first-half shots.

The Lions withstood the home side's offensive outpour in the second stanza to clinch their second win of the year.

The visitors attempted five shots in the contest while Anna Maria racked up 15 shots on the night.

Senior goalkeeper Sophia Fevola (Wellington, Fla.) finished with six saves to log her second clean sheet of the season in her third start.

Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene visits Gordon September 11.
