NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team was downed 3-0 at UMass-Dartmouth Wednesday evening in non-conference action.
The Lions move to 3-8-0 on the fall with the outcome while the Corsairs improve to 3-7-2 overall.
The hosts opened the scoring in the ninth minute, establishing a 1-0 lead. Erica Farias netted her team-leading fifth goal of the fall as she launched a long-range effort from beyond the penalty area.
Eastern Nazarene mustered one shot in the opening half while UMass-Dartmouth fired 23.
The Corsairs tacked on their second score of the match less than two minutes into the second stanza. Abby Silva booted in a rebound to pick up her third tally of the year after Alyssa Martins' initial effort was knocked down.
The home side generated a goal in the 58th minute to extend the margin to 3-0. Lucy Jensen collected her first marker of the season and Talia D'Ambruoso earned her first assist.
Eastern Nazarene managed four shots in the contest while UMass-Dartmouth exhibited a 36-shot barrage on offense.
Katherine Lawrence (Marlborough, Conn.) recorded a pair of shots in the game while Kiara Ketchuck (Taunton, Mass.) fired one shot on target and Kelly Couite (West Bridgewater, Mass.) added an attempt.
Anastasia Swift (Morrisville, Vt.) turned aside 11 shots in goal for the Lions. Madison Boucher made three saves to register her second shutout of the year for the Corsairs.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene returns home October 8 to resume conference play against Gordon.
