Softball Downs DeSales, Falls to Centenary (N.J.)
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- The Eastern Nazarene College softball team prevailed 9-5 to deal DeSales its first loss of the season before dropping a 9-3 decision to Centenary (N.J.) Thursday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- DeSales scored twice in the bottom of the first inning to grab a 2-0 lead.
- Eastern Nazarene generated three runs in the top of the second to seize a 3-2 edge. Taylor Brandt (Napa, Calif.) laced a single to left field to drive in Alexys Giddings (Kuna, Idaho). Alex Schwenger (Danville, Calif.) followed with a double to left field to plate Danielle Maliszewski (Torrington, Conn.) and Taylor Brandt (Napa, Calif.).
- The Bulldogs answered with one run in the third to knot the score at 3-3.
- The Lions chalked up a run in the top of the fourth inning to reclaim a one-run advantage, 4-3, as Danielle Maliszewski (Torrington, Conn.) crossed the dish.
- DeSales pulled even at 4-4 with one run in the home half of the fourth.
- The Bulldogs captured a 5-4 lead after scoring a run in the fifth frame.
- Eastern Nazarene bounced back with five runs in the top of the sixth to jump ahead 9-5. Taylor Brandt (Napa, Calif.) raked a single up the middle to plate Alexys Giddings (Kuna, Idaho). Danielle Maliszewski (Torrington, Conn.) scampered home from third base as Alex Schwenger (Danville, Calif.) reached on a fielding error. Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) roped a base hit to centerfield to knock in Taylor Brandt (Napa, Calif.). Darcy Castro (Garden Grove, Calif.) followed with a single up the middle to drive in Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.)and Alex Schwenger (Danville, Calif.).

- Eastern Nazarene scored an early run to pick up a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) slapped a double to right field to drive in Alex Schwenger (Danville, Calif.) from second base with one out.
- Centenary chalked up a run in the bottom of the first frame to even the contest at 1-1.
- The Cyclones manufactured four runs in the fourth to seize a 5-1 advantage.
- The Lions tallied two runs in the top of the fifth to cut the deficit to 5-3. Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) collected her team-leading 16th RBI of the season with a single to score Alex Schwenger (Danville, Calif.). Darcy Castro (Garden Grove, Calif.) roped a double to left field to knock in Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) all the way from first base.
- Centenary added four runs in the sixth inning to extend its lead to 9-3.

- Morgan Bruner (Litchfield, N.H.) threw her second complete game of the year and recorded a pair of strikeouts.
