NEW HAVEN, Conn.- The Eastern Nazarene College softball team absorbed two losses at Albertus Magnus Thursday afternoon, falling 12-4 and 7-0.
The Lions slip to 3-11 on the year while the Falcons improve to 14-6 overall with the outcomes.
Taylor Brandt (Napa, Calif.) registered three hits, two RBIs, and one run scored. Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) chipped in with three base knocks on the day. Darcy Castro (Garden Grove, Calif.) finished with two hits and one RBI. Alexys Giddings (Kuna, Idaho) notched one hit and scored one run.
In game one, Eastern Nazarene endured a 12-4 setback.
The visitors snagged a 1-0 edge with a run in the top of the first inning. Alex Schwenger (Danville, Calif.) tagged up and scurried home from third base as Castro lifted a sacrifice fly to centerfield.
The home side responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame to claim a 4-1 lead.
Albertus Magnus chalked up four runs in the second to widen the gap to 8-1.
The Lions tallied three runs in the third inning to cut the deficit to 8-4. Brandt roped a double to left-centerfield to drive in Giddings and Danielle Maliszewski (Torrington, Conn.). Aurora Adams (Fullerton, Calif.) raked a two-out single to left to knock in Brandt.
The Falcons plated a pair in the fourth to push their advantage to 10-4 and scored twice in the sixth inning to clinch its ninth-straight victory.
Jennelle Munoz (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) threw her ninth complete game of the season and fanned four batters.
In the series finale, Albertus Magnus blanked Eastern Nazarene 7-0 to complete the sweep.
The hosts generated three runs in the second inning to capture a 3-0 lead before adding a run in the third to extend their advantage to 4-0.
Albertus Magnus capped off the scoring with three runs in the fifth frame.
Chelsea DeMartini (Budd Lake, N.J.) tossed a complete game in her third start of the spring and recorded one strikeout.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene takes on Maine-Presque Isle April 2.
