
Men’s Tennis Endures 8-1 Loss at Division II Bentley
WALTHAM, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision at NCAA Division II Bentley Thursday afternoon.
The Lions slip to 3-1 on the season with the setback while the Falcons improve to 4-0 overall.
Diego Rodriguez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Carlos Sanchez (Malaga, Spain) fell 8-1 at the top doubles position to Daniel Weitz and Max Bonte.
Carlos Gomez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Avelino Parrondo (Madrid, Spain) suffered an 8-4 loss to Connor Aulson and Jordan Soifer at the No. 2 spot.
Baldo Karinja (Zadar, Croatia) and Simao Nobre (Lisbon, Portugal) were edged 8-6 at the No. 3 slot by Liam Marr and Reilly O'Brien.
Sanchez collected Eastern Nazarene's lone victory on the day, outlasting Noah Monsanto in a third-set super-tiebreaker at the No. 4 singles position. After dropping the first set 6-4, Sanchez battled back to claim the second 7-6 before edging Monsanto 12-10 in the super-tiebreaker.
Rodriguez, Nobre, Gomez, Parrondo, and Karinja all absorbed straight-set losses in singles action.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene wraps up the fall slate October 20 at home against Gordon.
