
Men’s Tennis Blanks Bridgewater State, Finishes Season Undefeated
BRIDGEWATER, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team capped off the 2020-21 campaign with an unblemished record after cruising past Bridgewater State 9-0 Saturday.
The Lions conclude the season with a 3-0 overall mark while the Bears drop to 0-2 on the spring with the outcome.
Carlos Gomez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Diego Rodriguez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) coasted past Jeff Pavao and Colin Lamusta at the top doubles spot 8-1.
Iago Alcover (Mallorca, Spain) and Baldo Karinja (Zadar, Croatia) downed Kendan Ziegler and Christopher Ferry 8-1 at the No. 2 slot.
Jesus Lucart (Wylie, Texas) and Simao Nobre (Lisbon, Portugal) collected an 8-2 win over Joshua Bean and Darius Desnoes at the third position.
Alcover claimed a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 singles spot over Pavao while Gomez rolled past Ziegler 6-1, 6-2 at the second position.
Carlos Sanchez (Malaga, Spain) breezed by Ferry at the No. 3 slot 6-1, 6-1 and Nobre picked up his first singles win of the season with a 6-2, 6-3 decision over Lamusta at the fourth spot.
Carlos Gallardo (Tulua, Colombia) prevailed 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 5 singles position over Bean. Lucart triumphed 6-0, 6-1 in the sixth singles match against Desnoes.
