Men’s Soccer Breezes by Lesley on Senior Night, 9-0
NORTH QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team rolled past Lesley 9-0 in the final regular-season home match Wednesday evening at Creedon Field.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The home side snagged a 1-0 edge in the fifth minute. Joaquin Ferraro (Seville, Spain) buried his third goal of the season while Clide Neau (Easton, Mass.) provided the assist.
- Eastern Nazarene doubled its lead to 2-0 in the sixth minute as Ferraro netted his second marker of the night.
- The Lions added their third score of the game in the 10th minute to widen the margin to 3-0. Ignacio Fernandez Busto (Madrid, Spain) knocked in his second goal of the year off of assists by Ferraro and Neau.
- Eastern Nazarene pushed its advantage to 4-0 with a strike in the 27th minute. Bryan Vargas (San Jose, Costa Rica) rifled a direct free kick into the back of the net to collect his fifth tally.
- The hosts tacked on a goal in the 33rd minute to stretch the gap to 5-0. Ferraro completed the first-half hat-trick as he notched his fifth marker of the campaign.
- The Lions extended their lead to 6-0 in the 53rd minute. Emilio Magdon (Mexico City, Mexico) bagged his first collegiate goal off of an assist by Fernadez Busto.
- Eastern Nazarene chalked up its seventh score of the game in the 70th minute. Mattia Zuin (Mexico City, Mexico) booted home his fourth tally of the fall while Fernandez Busto registered his second assist of the night.
- The home team widened the margin to 8-0 with a goal in the 71st minute. Rafael Romero (Sanlucar de Barrameda, Spain) drilled a long-range shot into the cage to net his fourth goal of the season as Alberto Mena Espinosa (Mexico City, Mexico) collected his first assist of the year.
- The Lions capped off the scoring with a strike in the 83rd minute. Franco Arteaga (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) launched a right-footed blast into the back of the net for his first career marker while Ben Smith (Thompson, Conn.) recorded his first career assist.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Antonio Soto Valente (Maracaibo, Venezuela) made his seventh start of the season and posted two saves before Lucas Batz (Jacksonville, N.C.) finished the match between the pipes to preserve the clean sheet.
- Eastern Nazarene generated 28 shot attempts on the night and six corner kicks.
- Lesley was limited to just four shots and a pair of corner kicks in the contest.
SENIOR NIGHT RECOGNITION:
Prior to the start of the match, the Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team recognized the program's graduating seniors: Igor Chignolli (Sao Paolo, Brazil), Joaquin Ferraro (Seville, Spain), Jorge Gonzalez (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain), Junior Olivier (Caracas, Venezuela), Sheelens Ostine (Quincy, Mass.), Diego Sanchez (Madrid, Spain), Antonio Soto Valente (Maracaibo, Venezuela), Bryan Vargas (San Jose, Costa Rica), and Manuel Vibot (Valladolid, Spain).
POSTSEASON POSITIONING:
With the victory over Lesley, the Lions locked up a top-two seeding in the New England Collegiate Conference Tournament and a guaranteed home match in the semifinal round November 2.
